Running Log/Long Run
Distance: 20 milesTime: 2:44:25

Comments: On the one hand this went much better than I had any reason to expect. I averaged an 8:13 per mile pace or so an never really felt like I was ready to throw it in. It wasn't easy, of course, but it wasn't the horrorshow survival adventure of other such runs.
On the other hand, the knee was simply brutal. For most of the run it felt like I had an ice pick shoved into my right leg directly above the kneecap. If I had looked down and seen my lower leg covered in blood I wouldn't have been the least surprised.
I didn't, of course, but that's about the most I can give it.
So I know that if the knee situation doesn't get worse - and that's not at all a given - I should be able to cope with the pain long enough to finish the race. Nope. Not looking forward to that in the least.
The most I can hope is my conditioning has held up and get as good a week of work in as possible before we dive into the taper...
