Sechura – This town sits surrounded by desert near the coast in Northern Peru. The dusty streets are lined with brick homes painted in colors bleached by the sun. At the center of the town is a crumbling cathedral that was once the town’s great point of pride. On the day of the Lord of Miracles, the grand imagen is placed in the doorway of the church for people to pray and light candles before during the day. In the late evening it is carried through the town in a procession surrounded by purple clad worshippers and incense.
