Colán
- The small town of Colán on the Northern Coast Peru is
a resort where the affluent residents of Piura and other nearby towns
spend the summer holidays – particularly New Years. Despite it’s
redolent origins, there are many who live here who work in the sea for
their living, often selling their goods to the local restaurants. In the
morning there are dozens of larger boats at anchor with waiting hordes
of seagulls on the masts. Families then take their smaller boat and row
out to it to begin the day’s work catching fish and taking care
of the vessel that is their livelihood. |
