Reserva Nacional Salinas y Aguada Blanca
– The Indians who live in the high Andes speak the language of the Incas and keep many of the beliefs of their forbears very much alive. Every mountain, every hill has a spirit known as an "apu." Keeping these spirits at ease is a major part of the ceremonies. At the top of the pass above Chimay there is a field of small stone obelisks made by the Indians partly to honor the apus but also to pacify them. |
