Arequipa – Living in Perú for any extended length of time requires developing highly specialized skills for dealing with the traffic. From haggling with taxi drivers over 50 centamos, or squeezing into the last seat on an overstuffed combi to simply developing the reflexes one has to have to stay alive crossing the streets. Everyone in Perú complains about the traffic but I find the system works a heck of a lot better than everyone owning their own car and driving alone everywhere. The sheer space you save in parking makes a city infintely better to live.
