Chiclayo – Thick sticky smoke hangs over the fields of sugar cane in Northern Peru during harvest. The cane burned then cut by hand. Two-man crews carrying propane fueled quemadores then walk through the rows of felled cane ensuring the last of the leaves have been burned away. The work pays $4 a day.
