This is the first fish weighing more than 1,000 pounds ever caught using
a rod and reel. The 1,025-pound black marlin was caught on April 7, 1952
by Texas oil man Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. It still hangs on the decaying
remains of Glassell's famed fishing club in Cabo Blanco.
